Speech Acts of Teacher and Student of VIII Class in Indonesian Language Learning at SMP Negeri 6
Barabai. This study aims to obtain an objective description of (1) a form of speech act, and (2) function
spoken speech acts eighth grade students in learning Indonesian in SMP 6 Barabai. To achieve these
objectives, the approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. This research data in the form
of verbal data, namely the speech of students and teachers in classroom interaction. In this study, the
researcher acts as a data collection instrument. Data collection techniques used in this study is the
observation, recording, and recording field. This research resulted in findings on the nature of the followassertive,
expressive and directive, and the function of speech acts eighth grade students in learning
Indonesian in SMP 6 Barabai. Form of speech acts that are found are (1) a follow-assertive, including
speech acts asserted, indicates, predicts, maintains, inform, express, and make suggestions; (2) followexpressive
and (2) follow the directive, covering the speech act to form requests, questions, requirements,
prohibitions, persilaan, and advice. Follow-assertive and directive function found is (1) a function for
the exchange of factual information, (2) disclose proprietary information, (3) express this emotion, (4)
expresses a moral attitude, (5) to convince or influence, and (6 ) socializing. Researchers hope that the
results of this study can serve as inspiration for researchers to examine the language of speech acts in
discourse classes with different studies and an expanded range of research because this research is limited
to the study of speech acts form and function
