Diglosia Situation on the Ngaju language Speakers in Katingan Regency Central Katingan
Sub-district of Central Kalimantan. This study aims to determine the language used and to
know the diglossia situation on the ngaju language speakers in the Sub-district of Central Katingan
of Central Kalimantan.The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitatif, using descriptive
methods. Data collection techniques in this study is the observation, interviews, literature, engineering
record/listen and record engineering. Data on diglossia views of the seven domains, namely
the domain of family, the domain of the association, the domain of buying and selling, the religious
domain, the domain of government, education domain, and the domain of the profession / occupation.
Besides, the data was obtained by language selection, such as from editorials in newspaper,
news programs, and folklore. Based on the findings of the research showed that the Ngaju language
speakers are bilingual and multilingual. This can be seen with the various languages used and
mastery of each Ngaju language speakers. The results of the research based on the domain and the
domain of association with friends, showed that still uses the language speakers of its dominating
Ngaju, in the domain of buying and selling, seen that the Banjar language more dominant. Functions
of English as the language of buying and selling in Sub-district of Central Katingan, Katingan
Regency. In the domain of religion, especially the worship in the Church formed the situation of
triglosik (Ngaju language use and language Indonesia balanced), while preaching in the Mosque
more dominant language as the language of Indonesia (T). The domain of government, education
and profession domain domain of situations diglosia happened is more its dominating Indonesia
language is using as the language of high range (T), although a less steady diglosia occurred in the
domain of education, spoken the learner speakers of language mastery as a result of Indonesia Ngaju,
still less steady. Language selections being used in newspaper editorials and newspaper editorials
and news programs using high speech. In contrast, folklore dominantly uses language Ngaju even
though there also folklores using language Indonesia.
